Hi

Does anyone know where one can find a diagram of the Lens on the RX-1/r? I asked Zeiss and they told me to get in touch with Sony as they are the ones that make the lens. Well I e-mailed Sony and they told me to call the help line, that was the usual adventure of going to India and the only question they did not ask "was my camera plugged in" but I did get "and why do you need that information?" They do tend to make me feel that I am dealing with someone that is being very passive/aggressive. Or if anyone from Sony is reading this could you please send me or tell me where I can get that information.

Thanks for any information.

Maybe they never released the lens details. Google results do not show much other then couple lens photos and interviews:

It's more of a Distagon than a Sonnar, looking at the block diagram in the link. It looks like a retrofocus lens, looking at the negative elements used. There is nothing that hints of a real Bertele Sonnar.

I wonder if that is because the rear element is only 2mm from the sensor, I read that someplace but I don't remember where. With retrofocus you usually have the reverse telephoto design to give you a greater distance between the rear element and the film/sensor plane to clear a mirror assy. With this set up the rear lens element is almost touching the sensor plane, but hey if I was a lens designer I would hope to be having more fun.
