Dust !

    While i am not at all happy my GRD4 has Dust (big lump too).:mad:
    I am happy that Ricoh/Pentax ? is on the ball with their replies to my mail.:smile:
    So My camera is away and i am praying for a speedy return.:biggrin:

    maybe that's the grainy look the GRDs are famous for :wink:

    I have no idea. One minute its clean. next minute not clean. only noticed in sky shot at f9. not sure how long it was there before
    i noticed it. faint large stain at large apertures.

    Ooh, that looks nasty. I didn't realise you could get dust on the sensor of non-ILC cameras.

    SOmetimes zoom mechanisms work kinda like bellows taking in air or pushing it out. It wouldn't really work if it were a complete vacuum.

    That phenomenon plagued some models of the Canon G line. Cleanings are not cheap....

    Yeah, the later Canon G series cameras are known for ingesting dust through the lens. It remains to be seen if the G1X will have the same problem, although one thing in it's favour is it's larger sensor. That tiny speck of dust on the GRD is like shooting a spitball on a larger sensor!

    Yesterday i received an email from the service dept at Ricoh saying they were going to start the work on my GRD.
    Today i had another mail saying it was finished and dispatched .
    So, thank you Ricoh UK for being so prompt. Fingers crossed it returns safe sound and properly fixed.
