Fred is dead!!!

Discussion in 'Macro' started by Ghosthunter, Oct 18, 2011.

  1. Yes Fred the homely house fly died in the early hours sometime last week. I thought as a memorial I would take his picture so we can all remember Fred.

    RIP Fred!

I never, ever thought that I would be able to say that a housefly was beautiful...and though I'm not quite there yet, Andy, I am impressed by this astounding closeup and the beautiful colors that Fred is sporting even after he has passed on.

  3. Thanks BB. It was really pleasing to find that this little fellow was so colourful. He looks black to the naked eye but i recently bought a couple cheap LED torches and use them for lighting. They work really well I think. There was a fair bit of PPing needed to get them looking good and I'm dead chuffed they turned out like they did. Here is a MONO one I did with a Pentacon 50mm f1.8:

Andy, the post processing in color is quite beautiful - love that iridescence!

  5. Thanks BB

I did notice there was too much blue colour cast so i have re worked them a little so they look a bit more natural.

I actually liked the bluer look Andy, but you are the artist!

  11. nice work

Great shots, a lot of detail to be found.

The white balance seems to be a bit heavy on the blues however.

  12. Next time try this type of thing I will get the WB right before doing anything else. I was so chuffed that I got half a decent image that I forgot about the WB!!
