B&H is offering new, leftover examples of the Fujifilm X10 for $299 as of today, Dec. 1:

I've been considering this camera for a long time - ever since a friend of mine bought one on the advice of people on this site. I have been very pleased with the Fuji XF1 so when the X10 finally dropped below $300, I pulled the trigger.

Yes, the X10 is far from the latest and greatest, and the X20 is better in some ways. But I'm having fun with Fuji's EXR technology and the price is right. I'm not worried about the X20 - but if the X30 comes with the exposure logic of the XQ1, I'd be interested. But that's down the road.

When it comes to 6 mp files, the X10 and XF1 are awesome!! I think I might have to get a second X10 as my original is still in "loan" by dad.

The X-10 is also a pleasure to use. Well made with a great lens.

In some ways I liked the X10 better than the X20. The X20 viewfinder was very nice, and it had a slight edge in raw files, but the X10 blew it away on jpegs. That camera had one of the best jpeg engines ever, and the exr technology was very useful. For the settings that are jpeg only the X10 would be my preference.

Well, I did it. I didn't want to use available cash for it, so I got a used X10 on Amazon for $239.00. The new one on B&H would have been nice, but at least the one I ordered has a serial # beginning 21A, which is important to me, and I had more available to me on my Amazon account than on others.

As I said over on fuji x-spot, of all the small sensor point and shoots I've had and sold -- including the x10, x20, xz-1, dlux 4, LX5 -- the one I miss most is the X10. I loved the viewvinder in the x20, but hated its jpegs, and there was something about the X10 that just made me happy when I was using it. So I'm looking forward to getting the new one, even if it's used.

Congratulations! My example has a serial number starting with 22A, so I think I'm safe. I think a great (and much-less expensive) way to feed one's GAS is with close-out and lightly used examples of cameras you wished you bought when they came out or regretted letting go.

EDIT: B&H still has the X10 listed for $299 as of today, Dec. 6.

Just received my X10 from B&H and serial number is 22A0xxxx. From what I've gathered, not all camera's beginning with 22A have the new sensors. Will report back after a few test shots.

OK, as someone who is considering an X10 to replace a Nikon D5000 (I *need* something much smaller), what's this discussion about serial numbers and new sensors about? Are the current new versions better or worse?

There was an issue with "white orbs" appearing in images under certain conditions - but rare for the majority of users. Fuji acknowledged the problem in a news release and said the company was working on it. They tried a firmware update first. That reduced but did not cure the problem. Then, they repleaced the sensor for free for any X10 owner who experienced the problem. Read more here:
