I do believe there is no image thread featuring the Panasonic FZ200, so I am starting one in the hope that members who own this little beauty will contribute their photos here. If there is already an existing thread, I do apologise for having missed it, and please point me to it and delete this one. Thanks for viewing.

I can't figure out why there is a thumbnail attachment for the first photo??

I don't have FZ200, but I may end up getting one for its excellent video capabilities.

Thanks, Sue. Yep, I am a Babylon 5 fan and have seen all the episodes.

The FZ200 is a wonderful camera and the 2.8 lens is a real bonus for lowlight shooting. Will post more photos soon.

Me too (re B5) and I adore G'Kar, he's just magnificent, once you realise why and how and who he is. Also, I'm pretty much a scifi addict. with some exceptions.

FZ200... I'm torn. I really think I want one, then one of the other companies release something with a MASSIVE zoom. I'm not talking Canon. If theres a massive zoom there also has to be a decent viewfinder, and canon has stayed with the usual rubbish. The Fuji SL1000 is tempting for me.

Looking forward to seeing some low light stuff from you :)

Taken using the iZoom feature (x48). Still usable, particularly if shot in RAW as this one was.

    1. Yes, G'kar sort of grows on you as you watch the unfolding episodes. He has an upright character despite his fearsome looks. Fan of Star Trek also?

    2. A friend has the Canon and he seems pleased by the results. I am a Panasonic diehard... love their cameras for their user-friendly buttons and interface.

ROFL. Of course. And Stargate. And Farscape. And Andromeda. NOT Earth Final Conflict. Thats just a bit naff.

I know the canon gives good results... but I *must* have a decent VF, and thats that :)

    A bold mouse

I got an FZ200 three or four months ago with the idea of bird photography, but was a little disappointed with the results I was obtaining. However today I found that there was an update for AfterShotPro that covered 30 new cameras including the FZ200. I think as a photo editor it treats the raw files quite well and the wavelet sharpen plugin really brings out the detail in the images. This was taken back at the end of May and I haven't really used the camera since then. On the evidence of a quick look at photographs I have from the FZ200 using AfterShotPro I think I'll be trying this camera out as a walk about, particularly as my new location offers more variety of locations for walk about photography.

PS, the image has not been cropped

This green snake, about 1.5 meters long, was gliding so fast among the branches that capturing it would have been almost impossible were it not for the FZ200's ability to capture five frames per second.

    Diesel to the rescue

I had thought about using a shot of this steam hauled trip from Bristol to Par in Cornwall as my submission for Silver September, but as you can see it's more reminiscent of the last days of steam when a diesel engine sometimes came to the rescue of a failed steamer, and vice versa, although I'm certain that's not the case here. Blame Network Rail. Anyway I'd not chosen a good viewpoint (first time I'd visited this site, so do your homework if you want a particular image). Actually saved me a trip out this evening to photograph it on it's return.

    Interest in FZ200 reawakened

Following on from studying the video (and others) from the link given by Jock Elliott yesterday https://www.photographerslounge.org/showthread.php?t=22181 I took my FZ200 out this morning and ended up with a shot for Silver September. With some sun late this afternoon I popped back down to Mount Batten and did a little "stroll photography"

The results were processed with Photo Ninja, some noise reduction applied, sharpening to the luminance channel only in Photoshop having converted the image to LAB mode and deselecting the a and b channels. The images have not been cropped.

Now could I come to like this camera? Certainly two shots wouldn't have been obtained with anything else I'd have been walking around with.
