A tele adapter wouldn't give the f/2 or f/1.8 aperture stated here, so it looks to be a completely new lens. The translated text doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but seems to indicate it could also be an ILC lens. I personally love 40mm as a general walkaround focal length but I'd be more interested in something a bit longer, between 50 and 100mm.

I would be first in the queue for a 40 in a GR form-factor...

Maybe a GR-based ILC? That would fit nicely between Ricoh's compacts and the Pentax DSLRs. From what I've seen, it might also cost me money.

I'm glad that I am not the only one a bit confused by the text.
About all you can be sure about is that its for APS-C.

Maybe they realized that the sensor swap was just too much.

^ that wouldn't gain you much, other than a bit more resolution, over the current crop mode. Better to have an all new camera with 40mm equivalent lens and appropriate aperture size.

    Hi,
I'd be all over a 40(ish)mm lens too.
I dunno why Ricoh can't do an adapter like Fuji's 50mm for the X100. It was done for the GRD2 and GRD3

    Hmm
