Well, I pulled out a few 28mm finders to try using them with the GRD3. Is there a way to turn off the screen? I don't mean review but in actual capture use.
    Any help appreciated.

    Yes
press the DISP button on the lower right side. It cycles through different display modes, one of which is off . When you take a picture in the off mode it will briefly display a review after the picture is taken for whatever duration you have chosen in LCD confirmation time setting. (off, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, or hold)

Hope that is what you wanted to know

Results, hmmmm not for a spell. It's a series I have ongoing for a few years already. I hang with the junkies, crack whores, pimps, dealers and cops down in North Philly.
So being low key without a screen is important.
In time I'll post a few.

Go to the second menu "Key Custom Options". Scroll down and you will see " Power Button Lamp". Turn off

The power button light is right in the menu. I forget which one, but I stumble across it from time to time.

Ray, yer a genius. I never thought about turn on procedure.
It's so crazy, it might work but I have to confer with Will and Mike before I make a move like that...

Sort of resurrecting an older thread here, I think, but I stumbled on it while looking for a similar answer.

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the display, but leave the shooting information on? Basically, I just want to know the aperture I'm at when I'm shooting. I tend to shoot most stuff at 3.5 anyway, but it would be nice to see if I'm shooting at 5.6 or 2.8, etc. when/if I change it without turning the display back on...

    Thanks in advance.
    Matthew

    Matthew,
If you toggle the display until no info is shown, if you 1/2 press, you should see the exposure info.

I thought the same thing and tried that, but it didn't work. I just double-checked and it's a no-go... It would be nice to be able to do that. Maybe I'm using an older firmware or something. But it sort of defeats the purpose of using the OVF if you have to turn the screen on to see what you're doing. I guess I could just not change my aperture, but it would be nice to have that option should the need arise... Guess you can't have EVERYTHING. :)

I dont have the camera at hand but what I described works on the GXR. I think the interface between both is very similar...
