    Found this just now while looking at something else.
    It just seems almost impossible to credit that during WW1, armour resembling that from the 15th and 16th Centuries was being worn on the battlefields of France and Belgium ...

    That's pretty crazy!
    In 1939, when the Nazis invaded Poland, the Polish cavalry still consisted of men on horses (although contrary to the myth, they had modern weapons and didn't charge at tanks but at infantry and light armored cars).

    Armour is quite fascinating - Especially for me is the ingenuity in Japanese & Chinese "medieval" - who would have thought of paper in the western world?

  4. Agree. WW1 really caught nations unprepared and armored for old school battle.
