I've just agreed to purchase a Sigma DP2S with OVF (which a DP1 type), second battery, SD card, external flash unit, etc.
It should arrive in a couple of days.

Interesting move - did you consider the X100? I'm sure it will serve you well - enjoy.

    Nice package Herman.
I may be misreading you but the finder for the DP-1 (28) and DP-2 (40) are different....
I know you know that, I am reading your 1st post wrong and started typing and can't help myself....

Herman - this is very exciting! I know you've been intrigued with the Foveon sensor for quite some time, so I'm not surprised. Can't wait to see your color photographs!

Herman, the best settings on a DP camera is a calm and patient state of mind ;)

    Herman,
Get extra batteries... You must have extras. The power management is the worst.
The IQ is as good as it gets. I used the cameras with the finders as it was my preferred way to work. The camera is a gas! It makes these really cool robotic sounds that I just loved....

I think I had LCD off and no review.
Can't remember all the settings but I'll never forget the images.
I'll be glad to help out when you get the camera.

    Thanks for your kind replies.
    Don: spare battery is inclusive.
Q: How to make use of DP1 OVF on a DP2? (maybe Don knows)

You don't. DP2 is 40mm and DP1 is 28mm. Unless you can mask the 28mm VF to 40mm.

Herman, a mask wont work. The exit pupil will be too small to see whats going on.
I would suggest you sell the one you got with the camera and get the proper one for your camera.
Chances are good that in a short time, you'll want the DP1 also.
Together they make a very nice pair.
