Hi all. Seems a poll with images in it wreaks havoc with the front page flow. So here's a meaningless poll to bump the current poll off of the front page....... cool, it worked. If you have a moment, stop by this thread to help in the original poll ......... https://www.photographerslounge.org/showthread.php?t=24955&page=2

One set of friends want to go out for New Year's Eve lunch........ is this a sign of our age? Quite often we get together with Richard's school friends of 40 years or so and we end up playing Trivial Pursuit.... or rather those that had a Grammar School education do, the rest of us just drink the champagne!

Looks like I'll be spending time with myself only (and the wife and dog), given that I'm the only one that picked "spending time with virtual friends at SC"!!!

I wanted to pick both the spending time here (at least to raise a virtual glass!) and going to bed early. Hope to have some champagne in front o' the fire while saluting you friends and my husband - and dog.

None of the above. I'll be home, off the roads for the "let's-get-drunk-and kill -someone" festivities, probably will have a fire and listen to music by fire and candlelight rather than watch TV, do a little online stuff (probably including a stop by serious compacts) and to bed -- but not early. I rarely get to bed early, and when I do, I read propped up on the pillows for another 2 hours.

And I have lots to read: I got an 11th edition set of the Encyclopedia Britannica (from 1911) for Christmas, something I've wanted for decades. The article on Marx, prior to the Russian Revolution, in which he is written up as a political economist, albeit a radical one, instead of as the god-father of the yet-to-be triumphant Soviets, and the articles on Syria, Palestine, etc., written before the Balfour Declaration or the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, are all very very interesting. George Saintsbury wrote the article on my hero, Voltaire, and the whole set is well represented by famous scholars of its time. If I sound excited -- well, I am. This seemed as good a place to bring it up as any.

Love Indian food. I always spend birthdays and anniversaries at a small Indian place here where the husband is in the kitchen and the wife is a gracious hostess, both from India. Small, intimate, exquisite food and great people running the place. It's called India Kitchen for anyone who ever gets to Albuquerque and has a craving for Indian cuisine.

you should be able to figure it out...
We're spending the week down at the beach near Wilmington, NC, near where one of our daughters lives, and our other daughter was able to join us, so it's just be the four of us and the dog for the first time since I can't remember when. And with our older daughter in med school and getting ready to start rotations in a few months, I have no idea if or when it'll happen again. So New Year's will come in down here - no idea whether I'll be awake or asleep, but I'll be damned happy regardless... Here are a couple from this morning with the EM1, both with the 35-100:
