The Beatles were fine for 'poppy' music when I was 16, but the Stones were a true blues band. The Beatles could do cynical and dark-comedy tunes like Happiness is a Warm Gun, but they wouldn't dare try something like Stray Cat Blues ("….I can see that you're just 13 years old, but I don't want your ID…"), never mind attempting to put out an album called "Her Satanic Majesty Requests". Now I wonder, since the Queen knows full well that was the original title, how she could hand Mick a knighthood without taking him into the back room for a little discipline first. Or maybe she did.
