Believe it or not, but I had never been to the Louwman Car Museum although it is close to my home. I thought it was "just" a car museum, displaying Ferraris owned by car aficianado and Toyota-importer Louwman. Mercedes-Benz introducing the new C-class in this museum. So my wife and I attended the event with probably 1500 other people. Both of us were sooooo impressed by the museum and the dedication of Louwman, the architect and others to create this. It has been implemented with Disney passion and precision. A lot of attention to detail and much more to see than "just" cars. And oh boy, some very rare cars indeed!

I was not prepared for a photo shoot, so just some shots with the Fuji X-T1 and the 23mm lens. I will deinitelt go back for a descent shoot.

Anyway: highly, highly recommended. Also for non-car lovers (like my wife, who loved it).

    Guess?
Next time we're in the Netherlands the plan is to hire a car and go explore, rather than stay put in Amsterdam. Utecht is on the list of places to visit, and now so is the Hague - I have to go see this museum. I'd never heard of it before so thanks for posting. It looks superb:http://www.louwmanmuseum.nl/

I am 95% sure we biked past it when we were there 2 years ago. I know we biked through Den Haag, and were not impressed with it (all banks and laundromats and loud scooters, no sidewalk cafes etc). So we biked out through some amazingly big park full of enormous trees, then down a residential street lined with mansions (some of which were diplomatic residences or consulates). And then we popped out of another forest at some roadside cafe with amazing food, across the street (roughly) from this museum. Near it, anyway. I remember biking past something that was a car museum, and wishing we had more time. As it was, we barely got to a hotel out in the dunes by sunset.

  5. Neat place and shots.

Funny how we will often travel hundreds of miles to visit a place, yet forget about the places close by.

That's a post-war (as in Second World War) Talbot-Lago. I'm not sure of the exact model.

Thanks so much for these, Peter - I am addicted to chrome, though I must say that swan car is quite something.

I am sorry. You've probably been in the wrong area. Next time I'll show you better places. But I do admit that The Hague is more of a residential and administration area than a city for sightseeing.

I have that all the time. I grew up in Leiden. One day I saw tourists taking photos of the city hall. That was the first time I noticed the beauty of the building. ;-)

Nice set of pictures, I love car museums. Did they have an example of a Goggomobile? I've not seen one for over 40 years, does anyone remember these strange little cars.
