Here are a couple images from the G3. These were taken using the 20mm f1.7 lens.

1: Shiny leaves. These were not wet but looked wet so i took a piccy.

2: Processed flowers. Processed in Lightroom 3.

Lookin' very good, Andy! I have to keep reminding myself if this is actually your camera or if you're just trying it out for the store?

All cameras are mine except the Fuji F550EXR which i keep at home and can use as i like but belongs to the store. When i have sold 24 of them then i can keep it for myself forever. I'm now in charge of the Panasonic section and apparently i'm getting a 100-300mm lens which is rather cool, Can't wait to try that bad boy out!!!!

Looking very good, Andy. I ordered a G3 for myself, and just heard from my wife that the package arrived today. Your results are very encouraging.

Are you shooting RAW or are these JPEGs? If you are shooting RAW, what are you using for a converter? I need a stop gap solution until Adobre releases the ACR 6.5 update.

    Regards,

    Antonio

    Hi Antonio

The images above are JPG images. I was shooting in RAW and using the Silkypix software that came with the camera. It's not a bad little program but things would be much easier in PS or Lightroom.

Some say the JPG files have a red cast but i have not experienced this yet. I have fiddled about with the Photo Style settings a little which has improved the images a fair bit. I'm actually really impressed with the JPG's and general image quality from this camera especially when it's married up to the 20mm f1.7!!!!

Yeah no problem. The one used for the above images was Vivid / Contrast 0 / Sharpness +1 / Saturation 0 / Noise Reduction 0. I did try Saturation +1 but it was a little too much.

It's fun to have a play and see what works for you.

Thank you so much, Andy. I just unpacked the box and had a bit of a play with it. It's actually quite noticeably smaller than the G2. A very pleasant surprise is that even though the grip is significantly smaller than that on the G2, I actually find it more comfortable to hold. The EVF is excellent, and is actually nicer than the one in the G2 which is no slouch.

Having said that, the reason why I upgraded from the G2 is the claimed improvement in high ISO image quality. That will have to wait until the weekend, when I hopefully will have the opportunity to take it for a spin. I trust I will not be disappointed.

    Regards,

    Antonio

I don't think you wil be disappointed. From what i have seen the high ISO looks really good. Not tried it myself but will do soon.

Good luck with the camera and I hope it works out for you. I love mine!!

My very first G3 shots taken on Saturday morning. Processed from RAW using Capture One and further processed through PS CS5, Silver Efex Pro 2 and Color Efex 3.0. Taken at Cementario Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

So I got myself a G3 a few days ago. Coming from an Olympus body, I am still familiarizing myself with the menu and its various features. The EVF and swivel screen aren't so bad.

Anyway, here are a few of the first images I took with it. They are OOC JPGs (apart from the fact that Lightroom cannot recognize the G3's raw yet, I also wanted to see how the JPGs fare). I took them using the Natural setting thinking that would be the safest starting point, and just added a few contrast/brightness/vibrance adjustments in Lightroom. Lens used were either the Panasonic 14-42 kit lens, Panny 20mm or Oly 17mm.

    Be kind.

:thiagree: I'm a day or so behind here but just had the pleasure of looking at these via Flickr before finding them in here. That second one is my ultimate favorite, Antonio.

Hyubie, you're going to have to update that signature line of yours.

I don't know that much about the G3 but the results I'm seeing are looking mighty good - and I'm liking the looks of the depth of field effects very much.

I hope you both will give us your feedback on what you think about this camera as is or in comparison to your previous/other cameras. Feel free to start a brand new thread.:th_salute:
