I saw from Antonio's film thread that he uses an exposure meter iphone app - got me thinking, (I know, I know, that's not easy for me!), anyway let's list all the iphone apps that are useful to photographers

Don't ask me as I don't know of any, but you younger guys, (and ladies), plus Pete, must know a few

    Cam appts

Hey Bill and everyone: I dont have an iphone but I did own the Tmobile version of it. I downloaded an app called Old time camera (name might be wrong). What it did was give you a choic of oldie phones to use and would mimic the style: here's a sample or two....

Here's another one that will make your movies look like it was taken with an old 8mm movie camera.

:2thumbs: No need to apologize about the size - she's perfect! I really like both, Pete.

Bill, do you have an iPhone? Just wondering. I am biding my time now that my carrier finally offers the iPhone. I do think it takes great pictures itself!

    But back to the topic.

I use several apps on my iPhone and iPad.

Photogene -- the only app I actually edit photos with on my iPad. This weekend, I used it to crop and adjust a photo, upload it privately to Facebook, then print it at a Target store.
Light Meter -- it actually does exactly what it says.
DOFMaster -- it'll give you the near and far depth-of-field for a given camera, lens, focal length, and f/stop.

I use several other apps for uploads of various kinds:
    Blipfoto
    Flickr
    Facebook
    Gallery (for MobileMe)
    Blogpress
    Tumblr (not often)
    Echofon (for Twitter)
    LiveJournal

BB - my daughter has "offered" to sell me her iphone - really "big" of her - I think that its is the latest or next to the latest - (but) she obviously wants to upgrade

 Who does she take after most, Bill?

Our daughter wants an iPhone but I have been using the Verizon excuse and the cost of the monthly data plan to hold back..now soon, all I'll have left it to make her pay for the data plan...and if she is not gainfully employed after graduating from college, then I will take it out in trade for domestic duties. I'd like to have an iPhone, too, but as I've said before I am so much better at parting with large lump sums of money, as opposed to monthly charges.

Glad you started this thread, and for everyone's answeres because it is just fueling my iPhone lust. Maybe if I buy an iPhone I won't need a Fuji?! Where is my accountant?!

    Hi BB

If the Fuji has an M mount get it - if it has an OVF as well that's great - BUT you can buy a really good used M8 for max US $2000 - so why bother with the X100 - and if you do not like the M8, (which you won't - well you may as it can be frustrating - just give it time and say your prays every night - what you get with it is something special once in a while, if you are normal - if you are an expert I'm sure that you can make it "sing"). If you don't like the M8 you can sell it a few months later for what you paid

scale focusing has always been great on Ms - stick it at f8 and infinity and that is all you need - if that's what you want - but buy some good, ($NIL depreciating), glass and take your time and no probs with focusing - don't "expense" the glass, treat them as assets and then they cost you nothing

OK - you (will/may) need another cam as well as psychologically you (may) expect the worse from Leica digitals, (because of all the false rumours) - but the negatives are really overdone, (what have I said), - I use mine all the time now in preference to anything - if it breaks I'll have it repaired and I feel happy that if I buy a lens for it I will not "second guess" my purchase - manual focusing really is (can be) as fast as AF

Kate, (my daughter, not yours), is in gainful employment - previously, (I almost said "in 24 hours" as we have been watching Jack), I called the "shots" - but now she buys her own "toys" and she is always (many) steps ahead of me.

I did however train her it her "accountancy" traits as she did work "with" me for two years before "hitting" the real world

I may as well buy her iphone as if I don't she will get the money from me in another way

Don't know if it's ok to revive this old thread but I'm looking for an app which would let me take long exposures with the iPhone. I think it might be interesting to try some urban scenery at night with the iphone and see the result, but I didn't find any app that suits me.

There's something called MagicShutter but I think it actually uses the video mode and create a picture out of several seconds of video for light painting, motion blur and such, which is exactly what I don't want. Just something that lets me control the shutter speed would be great.

Julien, it's more than OK to revive old threads because there's already a good amount of information that we can keep building upon. So I thank you!

I'm afraid that I can't offer any help with your question, however if you don't get any responses that are helpful - I'd suggest you drop AzPete (whose name is Pete) a PM, private message, because he is very into cell phone photography. In addition, I can put you in touch with a great fellow I know via Flickr named Gene Trent Flickr: Gene Trent's Photostream who you can get in touch with via his Flickr profile. He's very accomplished and an extremely nice person who would be more than happy to offer some advice and/or information. Just tell him BB sent you.

I'll bet there's a substantial percentage of the people on this forum who are too young to remember old Charles "Bebe" Rebozo.....

I don't think I ever noticed this thread. I have a few favourite photography related apps for my phone:

First, for the sunrise and sunsetters: The Photographer's Ephemeris Its universal, so goes on the iPad as well

    Then a few favourites
    Snapseed, Pixlromatic, and Photo Toaster

Others I own but havent used a lot, or have only recently downloaded
Diptic, CameraPlus, Power Cam, Photology, Camera+, Hipstamatic, Filterstorm, Luminance, Noir Photo, Corel PaintIt! Now, HDRFoto, ProCamera, Photogene2, Tiltshift Generator

I got a bit carried away when I had an iPhone 4 (reverted to 3GS and sold the 4) and find that I'm not using the camera as much anymore. I keep a few apps on board just in case but I can see a time in the future when/if I upgrade to an iPhone 5, these apps will get a heck of a workout again.

Then there are those of us who might be old enough but live on the other side of the world and have no idea what a Charles "Bebe" Rebozo is :-/
