Herman, the iPhone tracker works perfectly. Now at least I can see where I were everywhere.
You know, I am reaching a certain age. Somehow like this little silver-haired lady below.
I became the story by email, it is not mine.
    Jan

A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."

Her neighbor asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The little silver haired lady says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."

Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,

"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster."

He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh ............

"Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."

I have an android. I'm not sure if they employ similar tactics or not.

I think if a phone was reported stolen, it might be nice to turn such a thing on. During regular use however, I think it would be an invasion of privacy for any company to know where my phone is at and what sort of transactions are occuring on the phone.

There are benefits to such information being available to others. Imagine if the family who got lost in Oregon a few years ago had such a capability enabled. Search and rescue teams could have significantly narrowed down the search area and likely found them before the husband walked off after 5 days and froze to death trying to find help. If I go off into the woods and get mauled by a bear, yes please track me!

They key is to create laws that restrict who can access such data and when. But who knows, perhaps federal authorities require this data to be collected as part of their "counter-terrorism" laws.

But this information is probably necessary in order to provide apps and capabilities that we as consumers will demand a year for now. Some apps already require such location data to function (mostly GPS data). A friend of mine started Geoloqi and people love it. Location-based services are increasing in popularity.

Was this post merged with another post? I don't see my response! I posted it a few moments ago and it followed Djarum's reply.

Deirdre, I clicked on your link and it took me right back to this thread. Something recursive... Threads have been merged and my response was somehow lost in the shuffle. Oh well... if I can remember what I said I'd say it again...

BTW is it possible for me to see a consolidated list of my posts?

OK, there is only one thread. Yes, I merged the two threads about the iPhone and somehow, Andrew, yours did get "lost" but I found it and have added it back in - it's there on page 2 now.

On another note, you should be able to click on your profile and choose to see all your posts. Herman was asking about this recently and I'm still unclear as to whether or not his issues got resolved or not. Please post on the Help and Feedback forum, if you can't see the option to view your own posts, OK? I think there's a thread in there already... I'll take a look right now!
