...again. We did this last year too, with mostly the same big group, but the wife and I introduced a whole new chunk of people to the mix this year. The gist: we bike with a trailer downtown, catch a ferry, and get a ride out to one of the islands (Peddocks). All taken with Fuji X-T1, 18-55, 35, and 56 lenses. Some photos from this year's excursion...

you should be able to figure it out...
I was in the Wellesley / Natick area over the weekend for some meetings, and became aware of these harbor islands for the first time. I didn't realize they were so big and so popular, but this looks like an awesome way to "get away" without going very far at all (or taking very long to get there). Spent a few hours in the city on Sunday - hotter than hell! - it's a really nice city that I'm gonna have to come back and spend some time exploring someday.

These are great shots that capture the mood really well. Looks like a really fine time!

Next time I'm there I'll make sure to leave some time to explore and will get in touch Kyle - maybe grab a beer or coffee or something if you're available. I think this was my first time in the Boston area since I was a really young child...

    You'd better. I'm buying.

If you were around downtown on Sunday, then we were within a mile of each other at some point, as we biked from the Aquarium area where the ferries dock, back across town to western Cambridge. And Monday was much, much hotter... it was brutal.

Soooooo, so so so so many people HERE don't realize there are harbor islands, or that they're as wonderful as they are. Several have forts (War of 1812 through WWII), some are all natural, and most are accessible via a $17 round trip ferry ticket. It's an insane deal. The option to camp like this, just far enough away from the city to "get away," and yet to have reached it by bicycle, essentially, is a treasure.

Well, to quote the good Dotor (John), "I was in the right place, but it must have been the wrong time"...

Funny, we had dinner at a cool little Indian place a couple of blocks off of Harvard Square and I was actually keeping half an eye out in case I saw someone who looked like you. Never occurred to me down in the mobbed Harbor area. Yeah, we were there yesterday - just drove back, actually - and we walked from the office we were meeting at in Wellesley to a restaurant about a block away and THAT was almost too much. We stayed indoors for the most part yesterday. Sunday was brutal too, but it seemed like getting in and out of the city and finding a place to park would be easier on Sunday than Monday so we went in and played on Sunday... Not sure when we'll be back, but it'll happen...

Yessir, Hahvid Square is my back yard, pretty much. And that's indeed the dock the ferry left from! Nuts.
