If this is your family, you are a very fortunate man Jimmy. Is that first one a self portrait? I love seeing everyone enjoying themselves and the mixture of beautiful colors in what I am guessing is traditional clothing mixed in with everyday modern attire makes for a very interesting view. The portraits of mothers and daughters are lovely, and that one of the little girl in color standing in the bench/swing/glider is charming!

hi BB,
Malaysia comprises of 3 major races; Malay, Chinese and Indian. We celebrate
each others festival and every one is different. I will try to document as many
as I can.

Back to the above photos...

His is my colleague, Shaifol; ethnic Malay. This is Shaifol family and relatives.
I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I saved some photos for the G series thread.

I was invited to his house to celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr (a celebration that mark an
end to the holy month of Ramadan - fasting).

Those are traditional Malay clothing. Here are a three more I took at a mall...

I hope you like them.

Thank you, Jimmy for your explanations and for these new photographs, as well. Malaysia looks as though it is a wonderful place and perhaps someday I will be able to visit, until then I shall continue to experience the durian life and the many cultures thanks to your pictures. How good it is that you all celebrate each other's holidays !:flowers_2:

mid autumn festival

15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar
celebrated by many chinese in malaysia; but, it has changed...!

very much different from my childhood days; where kids stroll around
the neighborhood carrying lanterns, eat mooncakes, baby yam, water
caltrope (Leng Kok) and sweeten preserved lotus roots
.

another victim of modernization :(

photos were taken at a shopping mall.

BB,
tea (ceylon) + evaporated milk (for creamy-ness) + condense milk (for sweet-ness)

can't really say what is the ratio or amount. but you can start with one tea bag, two
tablespoons of evaporated milk and two teaspoons of condensed milk and adjust the
ratio/ amount to your liking (concentration, creaminess and sweetness).

served hot.

:th_salute: Jimmy! And congrats on your new lens, too! I know for me that it would take a while to get used to a new focal length...I've always been more of a wide angled sort, so I still sometimes find myself backing up a few steps with my fixed lens X100. Your market life is so varied and exciting - the only thing that comes close to it around where I live is a really good farmer's market...but it will never ever compete with the durian life!
