Nikon J1 with Cosmicar 50 1.8

walter_g

Regular
Got out my cmount dumb adapter and thought I'd give a try with the Cosmicar 50 1.8.
This lens was also sold as a Pentax.
Size wise its a good fit on the J1, and it also has a 40.5mm filter thread.
I grabbed a couple shots before my battery died.
Wish I had the chipped adapter instead.
First shot wide open, second shot at f2.8.
Not a great lens but with a chipped adapter it should do better

why is this not a great lens?
i'd be very happy with it

Thanks, ReD. It's a little low on contrast, but correctable in PP.
I will test it tomorrow, but it will probably have bad C/A.
These lenses don't fit all the way down in the adapter, so infinity is about 8'.
Depending on how well it tests I might get the mount machined.
Still a fun lens if you get it cheap. I paid less then 20.

Looks to me like you did well with the lens, all things considered.

Thanks, kyteflyer. At some point I might get the chipped c mount adapter, but I don't have enough c mount lenses to make it worthwhile, yet.
It would make focusing easier, tho.

This is a test shot at f1.8 to test for C/A. This lens handles it alot better then I thought it would.
I'm sorry I couldn't nail focus, but it will give you an idea of C/A

This is a test shot at f8. Most people only shoot this lens wide open.
Remember I'm only getting 8' at infinity.
In brighter light you would get triangle shaped Bokeh, because the apperture stops down to a triangle shape.
I will try to post a sample of this in a couple days
