A quick snap of my M2, after pulling off the old vulcanite to replace with leather.
Very nice. We'll need a shot of the finished product.
...and during surgery (my Mum is an archeologist by training and museum conservator by trade, so she's pretty familiar with cleaning precious objects )

Wonderful thread, Nick. I wonder how many percent of the digital image capturing devices we shoot these days, including high end models will still be used, useable or even reparable in ten years from now.
Given Leica's predilection for selling pre-distressed cameras at a premium price, you could probably get big money for that!
Fairly happy with it, although the fit around the back isn't 100%. Oh well, it's a user not a model, and the process was fun
Indeed! Although used prices for old digitals like the Leica Digilux 3/Pana L1 suggest there's a few modern day 'classics'...
The problem with current digital cameras is I wonder how many will be repairable in the long run.
