Lens Rentals makes a case that zooms can't be as sharp as primes . . .

Whatever 'good' and 'great' are supposed to mean exactly. We had a bit of a discussion over at the Sony forum and while I generally agree with Roger's findings, (at the risk of repeating myself) my 'great' 1855 Fujinon is notably sharper at 18mm and every f-stop than my 'good' 18/2 Fujnon (best of the three copies I've had), including the borders and corners. Many folks see the 18/2 as the weakest lens in the Fuji X lineup and maybe it doesn't even qualify as a 'good' lens for some but in most situations I'm more than happy with my third copy (and even happier with my second 1855 and the zoom on my X10 :)).
