    I never thought I needed a good tripod and every couple of years, I'd spend $30-$50 trying to find a decent cheap tripod. Last year, one of our local camera shops had a tripod trade-in event and I spent $100 on a heavily used Manfrotto 055XPROb. I love it so much that when I have money to upgrade again, I'm going to get a brand new Manfrotto without all the "character" of this abused one I have now. I can't say definitively that they are the best, but if can afford one, I don't think you should be without one. R.I.P, Lino
