Let me just say, in all my 62 years I have never been to a protest sit in or march of any kind. Not sure what it says about me. But, hey ho! As a purely photo journalistic enterprise I attended one last night outside Downing Street in London (official residence of the Prime Minister).

We all know who it is about! I am not putting forward a view of the subject of this protest....just a sense of the atmosphere and intensity of views put forward by those protesting.

There are a lot of images (64) so I have just linked to my group on flickr.

Mods.......is this ok? If not I won't be offended by removal of this post.

you should be able to figure it out...
Well captured Pete - you were right in there to be sure!

I can't imagine any problem with running these here - it's street shooting, this was happening on the street, etc. I'll go so far as to say I hope there should be a LOT more opportunities for this type of shooting over the next few years... I sometimes forget how much our US elections resonate around the globe - your shooting of this event is a very strong and effective reminder!

cheers, my feet were killing me after this. We were wedged in and it was difficult to get around and take shots elsewhere in the crowd.

thanks Ray. It was hard work staying on my feet with all the jostling. My balance is not at its best these days. I hope to do another one (on the same subject) on 4th Feb from the US Embassy to Trafalgar Square.

thanks Karen. Hope 4th Feb is as productive. There is protest history in Grosvenor Square/US Embassy from the 1960's which kicked off into riot. Hope it doesn't.

These are very tense images - a lot of, lets say, very engaged people here. I get claustrophobia just viewing, let alone being in this crowd shooting with close lenses.

Not hard to be positive about your work, Pete, you always seem to capture the mood, whatever the subject. This set is excellent, as usual.
