Here's a pic of my LX3 after a week at Burning Man. It needs a little scrubbing :) LX3 + pandabase adapter + hoya polarizer / uv filters + cardboard LCD shield + gaffer tape.

Scott, welcome and thanks for giving us a taste of Burning Man. I have to confess that although I've certainly heard of Burning Man for years, I have never really read about it. After seeing these photos, I did a little research and found the site...and her is an essay they refer people to: Burning Man: What is Burning Man?: The Experience I"m glad I read it. Please post more photos and if you feel like it give us some of your backstory to your time there.

Nice pictures. Also interesting is Scotts cardboard modification of the LX3. A OVF for a zoom lens is not a very useful accessory, also my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been going to Burning Man for 5 years and still have a hard time explaining what it feels like to be there. In a nutshell it's a social experiment with a culture based on 10 principles All I can say is it's been a deeply personal and rewarding experience for myself and friends/family that can't be translated in photos. For many people it can be life changing. We brought several first timers out this year , all of whom had a wonderful time and will be returning next year. The Experience essay is a good read and gives you some idea of what it's all about. If you're thinking about going you can locate your "regional coordinator" for NY on the burningman.com .. they often have local events leading up the burn. This is first year I used an LCD cover and the LX3 worked really well in the bright sun. It also made for a sort of grip to balance the lens adapter. There is no way to avoid dust out there but the gaffer tape and filter adapter did the job. You can check out more of my photos on flickr. Most of them are jpg out of camera with vivid setting (some of the colors are on the punchy side but hey it's burning man). Some are also tweaked in iPhoto.

Scott, thanks for your Flickr link - I've only just started to look and seeing that "dancing woman" silhouette image in its full glory brings us to another world! I'll be looking in more deeply there over this weekend. Also want to than you for giving us a thumbnail overview of what Burning Man has meant to you. Appreciate it very much, Scott.
