I just cannot recommend this camera enough, it's really an amazing bargain at his price. Get the LX7 + Kiwi tube + LWA52 WA adapter and you have a decent 18mm FOV for under $600.

I have better cameras in an absolute sense but the photographic pleasure per dollar with this camera is without a doubt the highest of any camera I've ever bought. Bargain of the year for sure, maybe the decade. At least so far???

Yes, I have to agree with that statement. I know it's not "all that and a bag of chips" -- but I really like it.

Ray, I think I forgot to mention that reading your article on the front page about the LX7 and the other compacts encouraged me to "pull the trigger" when I found a deal.

Be careful of the one on the RX1 then. An utterly amazing camera, but a bargain it's not!

Ha ha! It's too rich for my blood, that RX1. Nice writeup on it though and it is an amazing night street camera. I've read a bunch of stuff and looked at folks pics and it sure is impressive.

You know, I started this string and I am tempted to pick up the LX7 myself. I used to have an LX3. The problem is, I'm trying to save for for an X20 or even eventually an X100s. Worth the delay?

I don't know much about the X20, but it looks like a sweet little camera. Now, the X100s is in an entirely different class and is a much more "serious" camera than the other two you are looking at. If you want to go to something like the X100s I'd save up for that.

I have the LX7 because it's easy to carry -- even easier than my micro four thirds gear. It is also very unobtrusive. For me it's a win but if I wanted a more serious picture taking machine like the X100s I'd hang on to my money and get it.

    Just my $0.02.

I agree with John. The LX7 and X20 would be an either/or for me, with different strengths, weaknesses, tradeoffs (including price). But I tend to get more excited about the high zoot cameras like the X100s or RX1 or Coolpix A, when those are on the horizon. The LX7 came down in price in that lull between the new releases in the summer / fall and the next batch in the spring. And it was too good a deal to pass up for a camera I already knew I loved. But if the RX1 had been on my radar then, or if I was thinking about it now with the X100s and Coolpix A about to hit the streets, I'd probably be saving my money for one of those. As is, I'm selling off some m43 gear that's not getting enough use.

I have a JPG image supplemental to my LX7 review up which you can see by clicking here.

Since most of my images I published were from RAW, I did some shooting in iAuto mode and processed the jpg's.

Really, if one has an interest in this camera there is no reason to not own it at this price.

If you move the aspect ratio switch to 16:9, you get a 22.5mm FOV at the widest angle. Attach the Panasonic LWA52 .75x wide angle adapter and you have a quality 17mm to 90mm FOV capable camera for under $500. Amazing.

Same here. And owning it made my decision to cancel my GR pre-order a lot easier, even if the two cameras are in different classes.

Looks like its for refurbs though. I'd still probably spend the extra $40-50 on a new one when that deal periodically comes back up...
