some lovely tones again Barrie ... and "the train crew in conversation" just confirms how enviably well you capture people and construct an image

are you going to go back with a Mamiya?

    Paul,

I'm expecting my Bessa R back on Tuesday. They've found nothing wrong with it, some doubts as to my processing. How I can engineer to get a small fogging mark in the same place on different frames and 2 different rolls is beyond me. I've bought a roll of Super XP2 locally for an arm and a leg and found somewhere to process it, so I'll be going back with that later in the week, then get it processed and see if there is still a problem.

    I hope you're fully recovered.

yes, saw in another thread that was the case ... rather annoying!
If you are anywhere near a Boots in the next week or two, they are doing "3 for 2" on all film, including XP2S.
As for me... well I am improved, but when someone stabs you in the kidney with a knife, (however carefully), it takes it's toll. I'm sleeping a lot!

A wonderful trip back into yesteryear, Barrie. A great series of captures, well narrated, and I like the tinted monochrome look.

That really was a lucky accident, the signalman had opened the gates for the train but forgot to pull off the home signal, so the engine stopped short still in the platform. With the length of train it would normally have carried on somewhat out of the platform and across the road, so that shot would not have been possible.

Yes, I saw your previous post, my Kingsbridge Boots only has colour negative film, that's why I went to this other shop. They only had one roll at over 2x mail order price, still for just one roll to test the Bessa and their processing. If it proves to be OK I'll probably get some more mail order, as well as use up my HP5 and chemicals.

I recall having my gall bladder out in 1975, so can relate to your pain. Odd thing is I've recently been diagnosed with gall stones again :frown:

,ah but you can order the film at Boots' online shop and have it "delivered to store" and still get the 3 for 2 ... I can't yet find it cheaper elsewhere in an online store, but it's only a matter of more diligent searching

Barrie, these are wonderful. You live in or near such photogenic people and scenes. I know, I know...we can all photograph those around us...or in our various haunts but these men at work on the steam train do feel as though they're from times past. I think that it's just that many of us don't have the good fortune of seeing these scenes. I should get my daughter to photograph the commuter railroad scenes around here.

    Beautifully done!
