The X10 looks to be very well made for a Cira 2012 era Camera. Love the Metal Body, dials and viewfinder and mechanical zoom lens barrel. It is similar to my old Konica Auto S3 Rangefinder from the 70's that I used to take on my bicycle excursions thru Canada and USA. I Let the person that I was riding with take some shots one day while cursing down the highway, and he dropped it on the road.

Ouch I said to my self, But.............

I picked it up and it was still working, imagine that. Has a nice dent in the top plate to remind me of that wonderful trip to Jasper Canada.

The Fujifilm X10 is the same width but the Konica is taller and deeper and of course heavier as well. So it is with fond memories that the Fuji X10 brought back to me when I first took it out of the box today. Really looking forward to making some photographs with it. I enclosed a shot I took today of my old shop work hat that my Brother gave me after 9/11.

Will shoot some more this weekend when I get a chance, after reading the manual and playing some more. Much different than my G2 m43 camera. I guess it will take a while to figure this X10 out. Will post some more comments about the X10 later after I shoot with it for a month or more. But as Tom Cruse said " Its looking good so far"

    Dennis.

    X10/Konica

Yes Armanius, I was surprised that he dropped it, but hey, he was trying to shoot while riding ,usually not the best idea.

I was upset, but I guess its like the first scratch in a new piece of furniture, you are disappointed, but soon get over it, and you just go on enjoying it, same with a NEW camera. If you use it a lot it's bound to take on a few battle scars, and then you can relax and enjoy it more and you can then just stop worrying about the cosmetics, after all its just a tool, but the X10 is a Fine Gorgeous Tool at that. Making good photos with it is the best journey.

All my woodworking tools have some well used character marks also.I just put them to work and it makes me happy.

Congrats. It's a really fun camera. You should drop it on a hardwood floor a few times just to break it in.

Congratulations on the new camera! The X10 is a beautiful piece of hardware indeed, makes me smile every time I use it.

I use a very basic wrist strap to avoid dropping it. I wonder how the Gordys strap might be..

I have a Gordys strap on my x100 and really like it. While taking a seat on a dock, I almost dropped it in the waters off of Key Largo! Lesson learned! I highly recommend one or something to keep from dropping it. The Gordys strap is soooo stylish!

    New X10

Yes, I will try not to do that, don't think it will stand the abuse like the Konica did. Will try not to drop it on the road on the next bike ride out the 40 acre pond, it fits nicely in the back pocked of my cycling jersey.

Thanks to all of you for your best wishes on my new X10.

    All the best Dennis.

Dennis, congratulations! I, too, am an X10 shooter and have its older, larger sibling, as well. To me the lay out of the camera's controls are wonderful as is the way it feels. I used it exclusively for our Single In January project and really found it to be a great camera - I also happen to enjoy the wider angle options very much. Great colors, great jpegs and more.

If you haven't yet read this thread - https://www.photographerslounge.org/f63/fuji-x10-settings-start-5152/ - you might find it helpful.

Looking forward to more from you, Dennis!
