Touchscreen? If so, it will be a resounding, deafening no from me.

40mm lens, on the other hand, and a built in viewfinder, and I shall be first in the queue.

I'm pretty sure since the GR has always been known for it's customizable camera with dedicated controls that one can disable the touchscreen (and I would). But the Asian market (and mainly young ones who love touchscreens) is the largest market by far for these cameras.

I want them to keep making cool cameras, so if they need to have touchscreens, so be it. Just give me a way to turn them off, as well.

Exactly. As long as I can turn it off. And if they add a built-in EVF with a 35 or 40mm lens, I'm there.

23(35)mm, faster, more reliable AF and it'll land on my shortlist ... still below two other babies that have been sitting there for quite a while already. I really should get rid of some stuff first.

you should be able to figure it out...
I'd bet it'll have a 24mp APS sensor, since that seems to be state of the art in APS these days. I'd be slightly surprised if it has a built-in finder, though, and SHOCKED if it was a 35 or 40mm equivalent lens - Ricoh's been sticking 28mm equivalent lenses in every version of the GR going back to Napoleon's time or so. The same sorts of things have been rumored for a possible new Nikon A. Which would probably cause me to buy a backup of the first one with it's 16mp sensor and basic controls...

  7. I'm guessing it will have a EASY Wi-Fi connection, dust problem addressed, touchscreen and some jpeg tweaks for color pop and bling.. and a bigger sensor like Ray mentioned..

I bought the wide angle convertor for my GR and haven't taken it off since. A longer lens on the GR would make as much sense to me as tits on a canary.

There have been quite a few reports of dust getting into the camera and ending up on the sensor on the Ricoh forum on DPR. This can happen to some extent with any retractable lens camera, of course, but anecdotally it seems to have been more of a problem with the GR than most...

Ahh. Not experienced that. But then mine lives in an old Leica belt case, and wears an Accmaxx stick-on front UV filter, so that may account for my immunity. As you say, Ray, all "trombone" type retractable lens cameras are prone to such problems - I had it with my Fuji X10 - but I can't say I was aware of it being a particular problem with the GRs until today. Storm in a lens-cap...?

Quite possibly - as I say it's just anecdotal, but there do seem to be more complaints with the GR than with other similar mechanisms, zoom or fixed lens. And it's among people who otherwise seem to love their GRs, so I don't think its "outside agitators". But I'm not aware of any actual numbers to say definitively whether it's more of an issue with the GR than anything else. Or if it is, whether it's just slightly more or something bigger than that...

    *giggle*. Rajiv!!

Seeing this rumour, I'm thinking I might grab one of the "old" ones. I'm covered for 23(35)mm with the X100. Not interested in touch screen or wifi.

Wifi and touch screen are the only two things I'm missing from my GR. I don't see myself buying the new one at full price though, especially since I just got the GR

I think I will follow Sue's lead and try to grab one of the "old" GRs at a steep discount after the new version announcement!

It would be nice, though, if they figured out some kind of dust sealing for the new version. I have had this issue on a GR in the past (also one arrived new from the factory with some dust). Not unique to the GR (I have also had dust in my RX1 and X100S and they were babied), but I am more paranoid with the Ricoh with its retractable lens.

Okay well I didn't know that existed when I had my GR. Had the lcd protector but nothing over the lens.

As for a new GR.. 35mm would be nice, ability to turn touch screen off if they must have it.

Well, they've stopped selling new GR's here in Australia, so hopefully it won't be too long before the new one arrives. Second hand GR's tend to hold their value relatively well too. The new GR will be the one that gets me out of m43, I think I'll only use that for 45mm and above.
