we just spent 3 wonderful days in Crescent City, Northern California.
Since we're far away from family and friends this Christmas we thought we might as well travel over the Holidays...

Oh, and 'Happy New Year' everyone! :)

I live vicariously through your photostream, Tillman!

There's something about that one where your wife is amidst those tall Redwoods (both of the Boy Scout trees) that is wonderful - I guess it's how huge they are and how small she appears amidst them. I also love the "start of the day 2" - who wouldn't?

You certainly get around to some fantastically beautiful places. And happy new year to you two!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, and special thanks to you, BB! :)
It's certainly a very special place, we loved hiking there. Like another world.

To catch this in pictures you definitely need someone in the photo as reference. Your brain tries to shrink the trees to "normal size" if it doesn't have a point of reference (even when you're there). When driving on the highways that go through these forests there was little traffic in the morning. A few times there were some big trucks coming the other way and every time we were taken by surprise how tiny these trucks looked all of a sudden :)

I'm sure you're right - it's very important to have a reference point or two. I can only imagine what it must have been like but your photos surely help!

And apart from having a reference point, I just love to have my wife in my photos. So it's "win win"

I'm really glad you like my photos. They create wonderful memories for us and are a great way to share our experiences with family and friends who are far away...

played around with some of these shots again tonight and made a funny observation :)
Just today I was joking in another thread about us pixelpeepers looking at the pixels in the top-left corner of images... Now I discovered the spiderweb in the top-left corner of this shot.
Wow, that Panasonic 20mm is resolving a lot of detail... I'm always impressed by this little lens.

Fullsize shot - I actually softened it with a glow since it felt too detailed

Crop of the top-left corner - look at that spider web
