This lens is showing up at various vendors in NY and NJ. Anyone got any shots with one yet?

Rokinon RMC 7.5mm Fisheye Lens For Nikon 1

    Mfg Part# RMC7.5-NI

'The Rokinon RMC Fisheye Lens has been specifically designed for Nikon 1 cameras to deliver a dramatic frame filling fisheye view at an affordable price,' says the ad copy.

List Price:$249.00. Not sure what MAP is but at least one vendor applies an instant coupon when adding it to your cart.

Hopefully I'll have one next week. I know I'm in the minority but this was one of the key gaps in my mind for my Nikon 1 setup. (I'm assume that the 70-300mm zoom will start shipping one day....)

It's a fixed aperture, f/8 but that's not bad for such a wide lens. Will make hyperfocal focus easy, which is nice since his is not an AF lens.

I find it strange that this is a totally different lens from the Rokinon 7.5mm f3.5mm fisheye for Micro 4/3. That's an excellent lens with a much more useful f3.5 max aperture.

I thought this one would be smaller and cost less but I may be wrong. Here are the specs I found. Maybe I should just be adapting my MFT fisheye!

    The MFT one: Approx. 2.36 x 1.90" (60 x 48.3 cm) & 6.95 oz (197 g)

    The CX mount: Approx. 2.56 x 2.05" (65 x 52 mm) & 7.76 oz (220 g)

still hasn't shipped from buydig yet. figure with a complete money back policy getting it to test is a worthwhile way to spend time since i love fisheyes....

    20140911-20140911-_DSC1204.

just arrived. um, where is the "no lens" setting on the V1?? since there are no electrical contacts, the V1 doesn't think there is a lens on it.

looks like the trick is to just use manual. which means I really only have exposure to adjust.

everything seems to shoot at iso 100 even though i have variable iso allowing up to 3200 turned on.

and the chromatic errors and funkiness make this really a toy lens.

    RMA time.

You need to stick it all on manual settings.

Yep. Alas, though I am a big fan of fisheye's, the low quality and weight of this thing means it won't become a part of my kit.

Yup, I've often lusted after the 85mm for my K5 but too heavy. Not into fisheyes though. Wide is OK, ultrawide, nope.

I could almost just live with just a 16mm ultrawide, and a 600mm super tele, and be happy. And probably could sacrifice the tele, if needed.

That's a little tough with the 1 series of course, but the wide zoom is actually pretty darn good (for my uses), so if I can find a decent fisheye, I'll feel good.

(Well, I'll feel good when the darn 70-300mm starts shipping again. Then I really won't need to haul my MFT gear around.)

Minimum Advertised Price is an agreement between suppliers and retailers stipulating the lowest price an item is allowed to be advertised at. Vendors have to agree to not sell below the MAP in order to receive the product at reduced cost. If a vendor advertises it below MAP, they no longer qualify for the discounted wholesale cost. It's basically a way for a manufacturer to discourage price wars.

    Yes :)

I meant I don't know what MAP is for this len (dollar number).

In any event, a good fisheye is all I am missing to make my 1 kit complete.....
