Samsung Samsung EX1 appreciation thread

As my first post:

And what a first post, SergeKo! (y) Thanks so much for jumping right in by posting your photograph - the light coming down from oh high is just right for this image. It would be great if the next time you're here, please stop by our Welcomes and Introductions forum for a quick, or not so quick, hello.:)

Ahoy! No new photos to share sadly, been 'warming up' with my SLR more recently, as I have a couple of weddings at the end of the month. However, I started a blog yesterday... to document recent work, to share thoughts ideas (not always related to photography), recipes, all sorts of stuff. Never done a blog before, so you can literally hear the gears grinding and clunking against each other :D but things will improve eventually... hopefully!

Anyway, made a post essentially on what the EX1 means to me, hope you enjoy & everyone has been having fun snapping away :)

Nice one, Peter - for a minute, looking at the woman from behind, I thought she was real! Very interesting angle - and I think your framed it beautifully by keeping that section in the back left showing. Nice B&W, that's for sure.

wonderful pics being posted here!
Here's one of my first pics with the EX1, taken at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this summer:

Shallow DOF anyone? No more than 2 or 3 cm deep, I think...

Wow, where the heck have I been?! You guys have been adding so many fantastic images!:bravo-009: While this threads surely shows off what this Samsun EX1 can do, it also shows off the creativity, skill and aesthetics of each member who has posted.

snake, please don't hesitate to post a few of your favorites... I know it's hard to choose because I just took a look at your Flickr set.:2thumbs: Junyo, Nuskyn and bartjeej, the colors...very impressive colors and details. Wow! Love that snail, Nuskyn.:D Garlic fest!:friends: Le Mans at night!:hail:

Thanks, but I think you're being too kind ;)

I'm trying to find my style under different conditions and still learning the characteristics of the camera. Overall, there are certainly better and more capable cameras out there and the EX1 has more than a couple things I'd like to improve (finer ISO steps, better macro focusing, many FW bugs), but overall, fun until I move on. I have an slr, and sometimes think about something higher end, with a larger sensor, but this class makes much sense to me, enough to say that I'm firmly in the "prosumer" class.

I've also been lucky, with a slight demand for picture sales. It is enough now that I'm at the point where I want to look into printing high quality copies, sizing, resolution, and framing. I've paid for the cam and turned a profit at this point.

I don't know if I should have simply started a new thread with this number of pics or not.

Thanks very much. It's quite fun trying to find my style, finding situations, sometimes obsessing over them when it is difficult to find them. I will say with certainty that the flipscreen has made more than few of my pics possible.

As of now, I've filled the limit of free pics I could put on flickr before having to pay (in order to not lose what I've posted already). Due to this, I'm looking for a different solution for hosting, either using my own server, or going to some other free service. I shall see, but everything will be centralized on my blogspot, whatever happens.
