Conrad #benoa #nusadua #lowlights, did a little comparison with nex7 when took this photo... For approximately $500 price gap my honest opinion I think the nx 300 worth every penny... Speed and focus just a slight different

Send from GT-I9300 with EP-L2 sometimes NX 300 and E3

As much as I like the NX200 for it's colours, I also find that there is a lot to like about it for black and white also.

Hey Pavel, thanks! I do like the way it handles gentle transitions from light to dark.

BTW, I meant to ask what lenses you are using on your new NX20. I suppose that your probably going to tell me that all that lovely smooth bokeh is from the kit zoom! I'm keeping my NX200 as my lightweight kit at the moment with just the 20mm and 30mm pancakes.

I have only the kit zoom so far, but the 30mm pancake is currently on its way from B&H to my humble abode.

BTW, the third version of Samsung 18-55mm kit zoom (OIS III) is great. It has a metal mount and is much sharper than the first two versions; it focuses a bit closer as well. Apart from occasional corner softness caused by the IS (it's not a centering defect because every time I see it it's in a different corner) I see no reasons to complain.

Nic, even in B&W your images seem to have a signature tonality, and tbh I don't think it's the Samsung that can take the credit! But it certainly seems to work with your style (y)

I think this is right on. You're shooting has its own distinctive look whether you're using the Samsung, Panasonic, the G1X, or OMD. I don't know how much is processing and how much is your vision, but your stuff is really distinctive... Some older shots in this thread that I hadn't seen before that are just wonderful.

You get great images from any camera you use Nic but you're certainly selling the Samsung!

Thanks everyone! I can't say that there is anything particularly complex about my processing but but it does work to slightly differing degrees (better or worse) depending on the camera. I think that the NX200 just sits in the slighter better category :)

When I bought the 20mm pancake lens for my NX200 it happened that it came attached to an NX100 body that I was just going to on-sell, but it turned out that it had a dicky top dial that sometimes jumps in the wrong direction, and then it turned out that the seller told me to get lost when I raised the issue, following which it turned out that they found themselves on the losing end of a Paypal claim. Long story short I ended up with an NX100 body basically for free. Not wanting to see a mostly functional camera go to waste I tried attaching a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 lens to it yesterday and seeing what it could do.

It's the type of camera that I hoped I wasn't going to like but I have to say that whether they are 14 (NX100) or 20 (NX200) megapickles, I do like these Samsung sensors.

In this case I'm using DNGs converted from raws like I do with the NX200, but the low ISO jpegs coming out of the camera do look great also; detailed without looking over-sharpened and nice colours. I wouldn't be expecting miracles at higher ISOs based on how they handle noise reduction with the NX200 jpegs. I think that what I like about these Samsungs is that getting what I want out of the files is so hassle-free.

Not bad for $99

The NX100 was on Tiger Direct last week for $99. At that price, I figured there was not much to lose picking one up; the prices on ebay suggested to me I could sell it for more than I paid for it. And I might do that. Though I did have some fun with it this afternoon and think the output is quite good, it is no smaller than my E-M5 with the Panasonic PZ 14-42, which is a good lens (I don't have the dreaded shake that others have experienced). So there is really no advantage to keeping it. And I have some great primes for m4/3. I'd be better off replacing my E-PM2 for a second body. Still, I found the files (raw) easy to tweak to where I wanted them. Here are few from this afternoon. My roommate got help from a very friendly pooch as he was book shopping.

iso 1600, which is really not bad at all from raw and at 8x10 or so

Yes, I found processing the NX100 raw files was quick and easy. I don't know why, really, but working them was a breeze.
