Assuming they are both class 10 it can only be a brand 'premium'. I have both Sandisk and Transcend cards. I believe Sandisk may have a lifetime warranty.

I think that Transcend is a very good option to Sandisk.
Who needs a lifetime warranty? I would go for the lowest price. (I must admit I too have Sandisk, not Transcend)

Most makes are just fine, I tend to use Kingston if I don't need 'fast' cards and never had a problem. Avoid Fuji maybe, I recently bought one and it takes twice as long to write raw files as my 'slower' Kingstons. There is no need to pay premium prices unless you are shooting fast, raw files, on a larger format camera.

I've used Transcend for quite some time now (both CF and SD) never had issues with them.

SanDisk is a premium brand with premium priced. But Kingston and Transcend are also A-brands.

Since they are both rated class 10 both will be more than fast enough, most likely there will no difference in camera write speed. Probably only in card to computer transfer given the right card reader.

I'm using Transcend and Patriot. There's one Lexar and Sandisk in my pile as well.

    thanks guys; i searched further.

according the transcend website, its class 10 is 20 mb/s write &
16 mb/s read and the sandisk 30mb/s. is the extra 10mb/s that
    makes the different. how so?

Hi Jimmy, does your camera support these read and write speed?
Limit may be caused by the card or the camera.

    hi herman,
that is indeed a very good question. to be honest, i am not very familiar
with this stuff. reason i am asking is i plan to buy some memory cards from
the USA. the prices here are obsene.

anywhere, my p&s has 1.1 fps on continous drive and 30 fps for movie
clips for both 640x380 and 320x240. does this mean it support read and
write speed? also, i am now considering either to buy the oly e620 or the
pentax k-x (need some help to decide - perhaps another thread later).

    thanks.

Jimmy, you might ask Chuck Capriola, a B&H representative and member here, for some feedback by posting here: Ask B&H Photo. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help.
