“If a photographer cares about the people before the lens and is compassionate, much is given. It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.”
    Helmut Newton
    1920 – 2004

Newton’s sexually charged fashion photography remains influential to this day.

  2. Funny how at 3.30am you finally realise that its past time you cleaned the lens. Oops. Today's lazy shot. Not sleeping well, went for a little wander, small sensor crapola.

This image has strong echo's of one taken for SIJ 2012, although here the bus is leaving the village rather than entering it, so about 200 yards difference in location. The bus company is different, the route number is different since they saw fit to drop the number 93 which had a history of use on this route stretching back to 1929 and the route is now run with single deckers. The only similarity, the weather, wet and 'orrible, though I have to own not quite as wet on that day in 2012. Tomorrow however.......

Reminiscent of another image I posted earlier this month; I'm as much fascinated by the main subject (another expensive glove!) as by the multitude of subtle colours and structures:

Wasn't supposed to start raining till 11am but it was so dull and cloudy I went out at 8:30 and was glad I did as it started sleeting while I was out.

The usual fate of American Chestnut, Castanea dentata. The main trunk has been killed by the chestnut blight, and a ring of saplings has grown around it. Some of last year's leaves in the leaf litter on the ground are from the saplings.

Allison came home today and we stopped by the optometrist to pick up her new pair of glasses.

Variety is always good. But then why do I always reach for the Old Fashioned?
