this one sums up my lousy day yesterday. Can't really tell from this shot, but that tire is dead flat. I'm awaiting the tow truck since the battery also died.
I say again... taking photos out in public of strangers doing things in pretty places is HARD when it's cold. You go to a nice place, you pull off the mittens, you meter and get your settings ok, and then you camp out and "wait for life to happen." But it's 18F degrees out, so ... nobody is out. And you wind up dejectedly taking a picture of your own beatup commuter bike.
I thought I was going to have a really good one, yesterday... Went out to the mailbox and a magpie came running across the grass toward me. He warbled at me a bit and then I noticed that the potplant tray where I leave water out for them had dried out in the heat. "ahhhh" I thought.. "He wants some water". So, I went to the tap and put some water in... magpie is watching what I'm up to, the whole time... took the tray back to under the tree where I leave it for them... magpie wanders over, looks at the water, looks at me... and walks off across next door's lawn to go fossicking for grubs in the grass. I figured it was because I was still close by, so I came in, got the camera, then went outside and waited, in 37ºC temps, and that damned bird did not come back. so all I have is the water and the treetrunk. damn magpies.
Of course, his disgust may also have had to do with the fact that the tray needs a good scrub-out... but I doubt it.
When I took this shot, I thought it would be the one that I post for the day. The on-the-street dental surgery with meat and fish hanging outside to dry is somewhat absurd but when I looked at the photo at home, I just didn't like it.
It's also a selfie as you can see me crouched down behind the dentist.
