By way of a change on what has been a busy couple of days for old engines working the mainline I thought I'd photograph at Plymouth Station (or as I still call it North Road). My Mother was born just a few minutes walk from the other end of the station.
Anyway, to business.

Having worked the complete train down this morning this Western Class 52 (in itself 51 years old) takes five of the carriages back, hence lightening the load for Castle Class Earl of Mount Edgecumbe to take the rest, eight in total. The steam engine is waiting in the distance behind the vegetation on the left.

With the diesel gone the Earl can now back down onto its train.

A more spectacular departure than the diesel made

Smoke and steam fills the air, hence a slight haze in this shot. Those photographers on the platform possibly only photographed smoke and steam.

The engines looks are slightly spoilt by the double chimney, otherwise it looks in fine fettle for the non stop journey to Oxford.
All with the DP2M set to b+w mode and a yellow filter attached, some enhancement in Silver Efex
