Whitechapel in East London is known as Bangla Town. Almost as many Bangladeshis there as in Dacca I would think. It is a vibrant community and seems....to me......well integrated. When I was a kid in the 60's, it had a large Jewish community. How things change, even a Synagogue is now a mosque! So, some street coming right up from the X100S

Very nice shots. I love the diversity of London - it makes for a vibrant city. How did you do the pp and mono, pray tell?

Cheers. PP...ooohhh.....er.....mixture of Lightroom 5 prep to get some decent contrast in the images, then export to Silver Efex Pro 2 work the B&W magic with a few of my regular concoctions.....then reimport back into Lightroom to top and tail if necessary. I tend to fiddle arse about and if I like it I save it as a preset. However what is good with 1 image may look a dogs dinner on the next.

I am in Edinburgh for 4 nights from this Saturday with Mrs Petach and a couple of friends. How's weather looking?

Pete

wonderful series. interesting to me as an x100 user, because i thought it had the best b&w tonal range and reproduction i had seen. but the 's' results in your nonPPd photos are even more appealing to my eye.

The weather is typical for Edinburgh:

You look out of the window, and see sunshine. You pick up your camera and go out, and it starts to rain.

You go back inside, and put the camera down. You look out of the window, and the sun comes out.

Once you understand this, you are good to go.

I hadn't realised that Scotland and the south-west of England had such similar weather patterns...! ;)
