My arts college officially celebrated its 40th birthday/anniversary with a street party on Friday.
All the photos above were taken with my Leica with a 50mm equivalent attached to it, so I was able to wade into the crowd with that.
For comparison, and just cos, the photos below were taken with my Canon 7D DSLR with a 300mm telephoto attached taken from afar.
Great sets James. You've captured and conveyed the atmosphere perfectly.
Awesome shots. I like the colors on the first batch better.
The mood has been captured well.
Thanks Bill, Jules and tdekany.
The manual focus Leica was a real challenge to use. Also, when wading into a tightly packed and fast moving crowd like that, I found that parallax was a slight issue when I was trying to shoot 'through' or over the shoulders of people directly in front of me.
You did well with those pictures, I hope you enjoyed the party too
Thanks Julien. The party was ok, caught up with a few people there. I don't normally go to parties* but I figured I could take some photos in this one.

Looks like a fun party.
Gotta comment about the kid with the headphones. Wonder what she is listening to? Seems a bit young to be jamming out.
I think the headphones were to protect his young ears, the band was playing quite loud on stage. That's what I'd do if I had a kid too.
Now I feel like I was there as well! Thanks a bunch!
