    I assumed the telescope did the heavy lifting here, right? I mean to sya that I assumed he had this thing hooked up to a big tracking rig looking through a telescope...?

    Yes, one can actually use any camera connected to a fine telescope and achieve similar results.

    Doesn't sound like it. He employed image stacking, a star tracker, and a TC.
