three days in the mountains with the Olympus E-1

kind of a follow-up post to my previous post from the beach

We recently spent three days in the Central Oregon Cascades (mostly around the Three Sisters Wilderness - an area which we love).

I decided to use the Olympus E1 exclusively, as I was intrigued to see what it would get me.
Not having a display that can be used for anything almost felt a bit like a throwback to film days - we had to wait until we were back home to see if any of the photos came out well

The biggest "downside" I felt was not having a live exposure preview in difficult lighting situations (-> take a picture, click "review", click "info" for a rough histogram, adjust exposure if necessary, take picture again, click "review", ... etc.)
Then there are a few smaller niggles compared to a current m43 camera, like not having live-view on the screen (for ground-level shots), or a digital horizon (got some wonky horizons )... Some of which can be simply "fixed" with better technique - others are definitely a shortcoming...

But, on the whole, I'm really happy with the results. It's mostly fun to use the E1, and the images come out mostly well (and sometimes really well )

some really fine shots here. the colors are stunning on these old 4/3 cameras. what lens did you use?

Thanks Tony! I was using the Olympus 12-60mm. My favourite all-round lens... I was using that on the E-M1 too before I got the E-1.

Those completely sucked me in. 5 or 6 made me say "oh wow" out loud. That's an area of the country I've only briefly visited, but I was amazed.

Yes, they weren't exaggerating when they picked Oregon's state slogan "Pacific Wonderland" It may not have the most spectacular natural features, but there's still natural beauty abound...
