Niiceee! I have a similar collection I took a couple weeks ago of a re-enactment here. I really like your bleachy hazy processing on 3 through 6.

    Not too far from Philly
you should be able to figure it out...
The grainy sepia shots look like they could have been from the actual war. Except the one advertising Philly Cheesesteaks! If those had been available on the battlefield, nobody would have been fighting - just eating!

Great set. The last one is brilliant, especially with the olde style rendering.

Very well done - and what a wonderful opportunity for "shooting" portraits. We have a good friend who is a re-enactor. I've got a few shots of him but never have seen him encamped, yet.

My favorite is #8 because it really does have an authentic feeling to my eyes. I think the way the one soldier is looking right at you with his very smooth and old style features and style, his horses neck bent down to the left, eyes open...the other soldier turning away, his horse looking as though he's ready to move... This one gives me the feeling of an old time photograph - just enough "blur" or lack of detail in some places but also just the right amount of exactness, too. I'm probably not describing it as well as I could... Beautifully seen and processed.:bravo-009:

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I definitely had a fun shoot, and as much fun doing post-processing. Thankfully haven't seen any of the "why bother using a camera like an E-M5 and those lenses if you're just going to soften everything in post?........" comments. Oh, wait a minute, wrong forum!

Thanks, BB, I see what you mean. I actually think the photo of the two soldiers, one leaning against the tree, the other staring into the distance, looks the most "Matthew Brady-esque", but this is what also makes it a cliche. almost. The photo of the horses, and the random expressions of the men (you've described it much more elegantly) does have more an unplanned "I was there" look. Thanks.

Love it, Ray! There's something in there like "make loaves, not war".......

Nice shots, especially the monochromes! What's in the box in no. 6 - surveying equipment?
