Value Added Retailer

Hall of Famer
My youngest learns about being a "Value Added Retailer (VAR)." Long story short - her school holds a Model Economy Day; each student has to make some product and are given some mock currency. The kids learn about how to make a saleable item, package it, price it. Then they go around and buy items of interest using the currency and at the end of the day, they tally up who had the most sales. She made a hundred, sold 73 and actually STOPPED selling so she could go look around and shop for herself - she was that swamped with customers. On the left is her custom Pet Rocks with a bucket of pet food - she packaged it in very cheap gift paper bags. On the right, her only competition. VAR indeed.
