Here's how we play "What is it Wednesday".

Each member gets one guess. The answer will be revealed on the following Tuesday. The first correct guess has the honor of submitting the image for the next challenge. Sometimes there will be more than one thing in the photo or more than one way to accurately describe what the photo represents. The original poster will be the final judge of who is "most correct".

Here is this week's photo. Have fun guessing......

Reminds me both of some back yard chairs we had when I was a kid, and of the security doors those stores in the mall roll down. I don't think it's either, though.

I am also going with balconies but somewhere more like Kuala Lumpur. (but hidden somewhere in my grey matter I have that image cataloged like I've seen it before and I just can't access it!!! It's driving me nuts!)

so you guys think you have the scale of it narrowed down to somewhere between the size of a watch band and a hotel balcony? What if it's actually much smaller (or much bigger?!). Or maybe it's somewhere in between. Two more days for people to guess.

I can't imagine much bigger than my guess!!! It's the much smaller - much much smaller that is rattling around in my brain and bothering me. But we only get one on line guess!! (but can we PM you with second but uncounted towards the "prize" guesses?)

You can feel free to send additional guesses in a PM that do not count. Of course, you still won't find out if you right or wrong until late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

I'm just bamboozled. I can see that its a reflective surface, so probably chrome... but what it is... no idea. I suspect something I just havent ever actually seen before.

It is an architectural detail on a tall apartment building. Since it is NOT the balconies, it would appear that there is no clear winner. So I will nominate SnapDawg as the winner for his stylish and creative guess. Ken, you have the dubious honor of hosting for this week. Here's what the building looks like before the crop and conversion to monochrome......

An interesting side note is that when we get a great pink/purple sunset, all those little reflective bits turn pink and purple and that building looks just amazing.

Ok so the scale was somewhere between larger than a breadbox and smaller than a battleship!!! Is the building in Milwaukee?

It is, indeed. It overlooks Lake Michigan and downtown. A pretty funky old building, but pretty cool.

if it were balconies then the offset in level would mean stairs for each level - lots and lots of stairs - billions of stairs

wouldn't surprise me if the design was based on a watch strap though
