Welcome to this week's What is it Wednesday. A reminder of the rules:

Each member gets one guess. The answer will be revealed on the following Tuesday. The first correct guess has the honour of submitting the image for the next challenge. Sometimes there will be more than one thing in the photo or more than one way to accurately describe what the photo represents. The original poster will be the final judge of who is "most correct".

This might be easy on the material point of view, but what is it?

    Have fun! And imagination!

You mean what was it before the fire? I'm going with a chair again.

does kinda look like charred wood. I'll guess that it's a gas fireplace set of "fake logs".

I think there's a reason why the wood is charred, and I think it's a clue to what it is. I think it is itself a tool of some sort, maybe in a forge or blacksmiths. As to exactly what, possibly a shovel, or a wheelbarrow-type thing?

I don't know the correct technical term, but one of those large spatula things used to load bread into the oven in a bakery or when making pizza in a restaurant.

It must be because of the vacation season why so many have been shy, and not tried the riddle ;)

Two forum members here are on the track, mentioning tools. However not yet the correct one. Let's see if this hint gives inspiration to someone

Was it a stepladder before the fire?

    No Martin, unfortunately no.

Bill is the closest one so far. To know, or actually guess the right answer some interest to design is needed...

OK then, time to wrap this up. Firstly, you guys are truly amazing. This was a setup only for this purpose, this challenge, and admittedly a difficult one. And still two of you were quite close. Richard, it could had been you with the spatula, but no, no bread involved here. And Bill, you were on track in the process, but not metal this time. Anyway with the dictatorship in this challenge I declare the winner: Bill aka Lightmancer. Congrats!

The mystery object was from an art work made of moulds used in mould blowing process in the glass workshop.

Thank you! The irony is, I didn't think of glass, but now you have said it, I "see" it - and I have watched a glass-blower at work!

I have what I think is an absolute cracker... I will post tomorrow ;)

After the tool clue, glass making would have been my second guess if we'd been allowed another try.

    Well done Bill.
