Fuji X30 in action

I've had the X30 out and about numerous times this week, including the hike shown above. It really is a decent little camera - I just think the price point is a bit high. It's now packed up for its return to the rental place, but here are a few from the past few days to celebrate my brief time with the camera:

That photo came from the RAW file. In the camera's jpg file, the trees and hillside on the left were almost pitch black. I tweaked the contrast slightly, but that photo represents the actual scene fairly well. As you said, a very wide dynamic range. Fuji does indeed do colors well!
 
Back in action with a black X30 a year after my OP. I had a well worn silver X30 and eventually sold it, but missed its functionality and searched until I found a decent price on a new-ish black model. Nice little camera, definitely fits the definition of a Serious Compact:
